Apopka(10-3) looks to redeem themselves after being defeated by Venice for the FHSAA Class 8A state championship last year. They have just outscored their opponents 260-200 in 2022. The Blue Darters eliminated Boone 17-3 in a regional quarterfinal, defeated Winter Park 28-7 in a regional semifinal and got by district foe Lake Mary 30-23 in a regional final.
They will look to rely on dual quarterback Tyson Davison for their offense. They have numerous options at running back with Zeldrick Roberts, Kaleb Hicks, Noah Morgan, Malik Nicholson and Rashad Watson. The main targets for Davison downfield are wide receivers Nathan Jenkins, Isaac Knight and Jordan Wright.
Palm Beach Central(12-1) will make their state semifinal appearance in school history. The Broncos have outscored their opponents 525-184 this season. They routed Jupiter 46-7 in the regional quarterfinal, outlasted Marjory Stoneman Douglas 55-23 in the regional semifinal and edged Palm Beach Gardens 14-10 in the regional final.
Broncos quarterback Ahmad Haston is a dual threat who can pass and run out of the pocket anytime. Running backs Tyler Young, Leon Williams and Jason Laloi will get their rushing opportunities. Haston can find wide receivers Luby Maurice, Javorian Wimberly, Nedrick Boldin, Tony Williams along with Young on passes.
