The University of Miami Hurricanes dominated the Florida A&M Rattlers 77-7 at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night. The Hurricanes last played at that venue for the CPF National Championship versus Indiana back in January.
The Canes matched their total for the most points scored in a game in school history. They also set a record with 856 total yards on offense.
Miami(2-0) struck quickly at the 12:37 mark of the first quarter and led 7-0. Running back Mark Fletcher Jr. sprinted down the left side on a 47-yard touchdown run.
The Hurricanes extended it to 14-0 at 11:11 of the first. Quarterback Darian Mensah connected a 55-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver xxx Moore on the left hash marks.
Florida A&M(1-2) fell behind 21-0 with 6:17 to go in the first. Fletcher rushed up the middle from one yard out.
The Canes made it 28-0 on the first play of the second quarter. Mensah tossed a 19-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Malachi Toney on the front left side of the end zone.
It became 35-0 for the Hurricanes at 10:10 of the second. Running back Jarrod Pringle Jr. cut back to around the left side on a five-yard run.
Miami expanded it to 49-0 with 46 seconds remaining in the first half. Running back Javion Mallory raced up the middle from 16 yards away.
