Local sportscaster Dave LaMont will begin as the new television play-by-play announcer for the Pro Bowlers Tour on ESPN as of December 11. He has broadcast college football games at ESPN and ABC on a full-time basis since 2011 and will continue to be a sports contributor to the Paul and Young Ron Show on Big 105.9 WBGG-FM.
LaMont has over 35 years of broadcasting experience in the Miami market. He was the radio play-by-play voice of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers during the early 1980s and held a sportscaster position at 790 WNWS-AM.
After a stint at News Radio 610 WIOD-AM and 940 WINZ-AM. he became a morning co-host on The First Team with Jimmy Cefalo on Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM in 1993. He later co-hosted the show with Joe Rose before he returned to WIOD in 1994.
LaMont did his share of television work as the sideline reporter of Miami Heat games on Sunshine Network alongside Eric Reid and Jack Ramsey from October 1992 until April 2000. He was promoted to morning host on WIOD in the mid 2000s following over a decade as the morning sports anchor.
He was named the first radio play-by-play announcer of Florida Atlantic University football when the program formed in 2001 and he also handled announcing men's basketball. LaMont left both positions in the middle of 2011 and was replaced by Ken LaVicka.
