The Florida Panthers played a New Year's Eve game in Dallas on Saturday night and beat the Stars 3-1 at American Airlines Center. It was the only road game of a nine-game stretch for the club.
Florida(16-14-8) blitzed the Stars with three goal during the first period. Vincent Trocheck put in a tally at 3:06 with an assist by Jaromir Jagr. It helped Jagr tie former teammate Paul Coffey for fifth all-time with his 1,135th assist.
The Panthers added two power-play goals in the opening frame. Jussi Jokinen scored at 15:33 and Jagr added a goal at 16:40 for his 756st NHL goal.
Dallas(16-15-7) poured in a power-play goal with 3:28 left in the second period. Patrick Eaves was credited for the goal with assists from Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.
