Cardinal Gibbons At American Heritage Preview

The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs challenge the American Heritage Patriots at Heritage Field in Plantation on Friday night. They were district rivals throughout the previous decade as they combined to capture five FHSAA Class 5A state titles over a six-year period.
Cardinal Gibbons(3-0) visited St. Thomas Aquinas last week and pulled off a 17-10 upset victory to snap the Raiders 16-game winning streak. The Chiefs began the 2020 season with two home wins over Monsignor Pace and Doral Academy. Their offense will be led by quarterback Brody Palhegyi. Running backs Torrence Miller and Kamari Moulton can get their rushing opportunities. Palhegyi looks to connect passes to wide receivers Troy Stellato, Bryson Williams, Davon Kiser, Luke Dean and Gabriel Morgan.
American Heritage(4-1) bounced back with a 41-26 road win over the four-time Class 7A state semifinalist Venice. The Patriots started the 2020 campaign with victories over Chaminade-Madonna, Clearwater and Bartram Trail before losing to Trinity Christian Academy. Running backs Mark Fletcher and Jerry Dinkins look to get carries from the backfield. Quarterback Blake Murphy intends to find wide receivers Orande Gadsden II, Jacolby Spells and Michael Watkins III for pass receptions.
