Former Marlins player Miguel Cabrera played in his final Major League Baseball game on Sunday. He announced his retirement from baseball prior to the 2023 regular season.
Cabrera played his first five seasons with the Florida Marlins from 2003 until 2007. He captured a World Series championship in 2003 during his rookie year. He spent the remainder of his MLB career with the Detroit Tigers from 2008 to 2023. Cabrera helped that team get the American League title in 2012.
He leaves the sport as one of three people with more than 500 home runs, 3,000 hits and a .300 batting average. Only Willie Mays and Hank Aaron have accomplished that.
Cabrera won the Triple Crown in 2012 along with the American League Most Valuable Player Award in 2012 and 2013. He also was able to win four batting titles, two home run titles and two RBI titles.
