2024 NHL All-Star Game Final

Team McDavid lost to Team Matthews 7-4 in the final contest of the 2024 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday. The Florida Panthers were represented by center Sam Reinhart and goalie Sergei Bobrovsky on Team McDavid. The winning 11 players from Team Matthews split the $1 million prize.
Bobrovsky started and played the first period for Team McDavid. Clayton Keller gave Team Matthews a 1-0 lead at the 7:41 mark of the first period on a forehand shot. Boone Jenner tied it up 1-1 for Team McDavid on snap shot with 4:52 to go in the first.
It became 2-1 for Team Matthews with 2:49 remaining in the period. Mitch Marner poked the puck in from the blue paint. David Pastrnak evened it 2-2 when he snapped a shot from the slot area with 1:52 left in the first.
Matthews helped his club when he scored five seconds later on a breakaway and made it 3-2. Leon Draisaitl of Team McDavid would make it 3-3 on a backhand shot from the top of the crease with 1:34 left in the frame. Bobrovsky was replaced in net by Connor Hellebuyck at the conclusion of the first period.
In the second period, Team Mathews regained the lead 4-3 at 1:06. Filip Forsberg snapped a shot from the inner right circle. It became a two-goal margin 5-3 for Team Matthews at the 4:59 mark of the second when Auston Matthews blasted a one-time slap shot from the right circle on a cross-ice feed from Keller.
Team McDavid tried to pull their goalie for an extra skater like they did in their comeback semifinal victory. It did not work as Andrew DeBrincat placed the puck into an empty net from the blue line with 1:51 remaining for a 6-3 lead.
It was cut to 6-4 by Team McDavid with 1:26 to go when Tomas Hertl scored on a backhand shot from the left of the crease. Mathew Barzal would give Team Matthews a 7-4 advantage with 1:05 left in the second on a one-time forehand shot from the low left circle.
