The National Hockey League is expected to set a date for the beginning of the 2020-21 calendar year and free agency period. The day will likely be on November 1. The yearly salary cap ceiling and floor amounts for all 31 NHL clubs will be determined by then.
The NHL has usually set the start of the calendar year on July 1. The period to sign free agents also happens on that day except for this season.
