With Dwyane Wade serving a one-game suspension, the Detroit Pistons took advantage with a 109-99 win over the Miami Heat on Friday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills. It was the second game of a four-game road trip for Miami, who had their six-game win streak snapped.
LeBron James had 35 points and six rebounds in 44 minutes for the Heat in the loss while Chris Bosh added 28 points along with nine rebounds in 40 minutes. They were the only two Miami players that scored in double digits. Ray Allen, who missed the last game due to an injury, placed nine points in 29 minutes.
Detroit(10-22) had six players with double-digit scoring. Will Bynum led the way with 25 points coming off the bench along with Charlie Villanueva who had 18 points. Kyle Singler popped in 12 points and Tayshaun Prince poured in 11 points for the Pistons. Pine Crest grad Brandon Knight scored seven points in 20 minutes.
Miami(20-7) scored the first ten points of the game and had a 32-17 lead after one quarter. The Pistons hit 14 unanswered points to begin the second quarter to pull within one points 32-31 with 8:18 to go. Detroit was up 58-52 at halftime after they outscored Miami 41-20 in the second.
The Pistons got the first nine points of the second half and held a double-digit lead throughout the third quarter. Miami was down 81-71 at the end of the period. The Heat came as close as a four-point deficit at 81-77 with 10:27 remaining in the final quarter.
