The Miami Heat were stunned on Tuesday night as they lost to the Washington Wizards, who have the worst record in the NBA, 105-101 at Verizon Center. LeBron James picked up his first triple-double of the year for the Heat with 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in 43 minutes.
Dwyane Wade scored 24 points in 34 minutes while Chris Bosh got a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds in 36 minutes. Reserve players Ray Allen and Mike Miller poured in 11 points each. Jordan Crawford led Washington(2-13) with 22 points off the bench in 31 minutes.
Neither team led by more than five points in the first as the Wizards were ahead 30-25 after one quarter. Washington increased to a double-digit lead at 56-46 with 2:19 left in the second and led 60-54 at halftime.
Miami(12-4) closed the gap to 82-78 after three quarters. The Heat stayed within five points of taking the lead throughout the fourth quarter, but they were unable to tie game as the Wizards fended them off. James put in a lay-up with eight seconds left to make it 102-101, however Washington made several free throws to win the game.
