Kevin Rogers Returns To WQAM

Kevin Rogers has rejoined Miami Sports Radio 56O WQAM-AM as of this week. He will be assigned as a backup studio host for University of Miami basketball and Florida Panthers game broadcasts.
The station needed an additional host for Alex Donno who has been the main studio host for both teams. There has been several conflicts over the two months because both University of Miami and the Florida Panthers games have shared the same broadcast time periods.
Rogers had a long reign at WQAM from 2008 until August 2014. He was the evening host on the station and added duties as the studio host of the Florida Panthers Radio Network in September 2010.
He still continues as a writer and handicapper for VegasInsider.com. Rogers did hold positions as a weekend news anchor on News Talk 6lO WIOD-AM and a fill-in sports host on Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM from October 2014 to January 2015 between his two stints with WQAM.
Rogers, a Florida State University grad, began his professional broadcasting career at KCSP-AM in Kansas City as a sports host before he moved to Miami. Rogers joined Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM in the mid-2000s. He worked as a late night host, evening host, late morning host and Florida Panthers studio host during his reign there.

  1. Kevin Rogers, back at the “Q”? Excellent news! I have missed his intellect, caustic wit, & wry observations ever since WQAM fired him in mid-2014 (station-management “pulled a Luria”; their “firing-sale” at the time was a travesty). However, the station, by rehiring Rogers (as well as Crowder for “HCK”), has redeemed itself somewhat. The Donno-Rogers pairing is intriguing: Alex is the nerdy, awkward, & goofy-but-very-entertaining host, while Rogers is opinionated, sarcastic, observant, & droll. Donno has held the 6.00-10.00 PM time-slot in Roger’s absence (albeit intermittently, between the airing of UM & Panther games). While Alex is dry & funny, he’s susceptible to anemic ramblings; some of his recent producers have been immature and vapid, making studio-banter insufferable. Rogers should provide the perfect counter-balance to Donno’s stream-of-consciousness broadcast-style. Another reason for enjoying “Thanksgiving” today. Thanks, WQAM, for rehiring one of my favorite radio-hosts. Welcome back, Kevin!
