Kings Beat Panthers

     The Florida Panthers remained winless against California teams this season as they fell to the Los Angeles 3-1 at BB&T Center on Monday night. The Cats, who lost their third straight game, are now 1-2-1 in their five-game homestand. The Kings have defeated the Panthers nine of the last 11 times.
     Los Angeles(13-8-0)struck fast at 7:47 of the first period. Milan Lucic carried the puck around the Panthers cage and placed a pass to Tyler Toffoli in the right circle for a one-time slapshot by Al Montoya for a 1-0 lead. It was team-leading 11th goal of the season for Toffoli.
     In the second period, Florida(8-9-4) bounced back with a goal on their second power-play attempt at 5:07. Jaromir Jagr had the puck on the right-wing wall and fed it to Aleksander Barkov at the top of the right circle. He let go of a snap shot which trickled by Jonathan Quick for his third consecutive game with a tally to tie the contest. Jagr tied Nicklas Lidstrom for 11th all-time with 590th  power-play point.
     The Kings regained the lead with 2:44 left in the second. Kyle Clifford fired a shot from the right point which was blocked by Jordan Nolan in the right circle. It rolled to Alec Martinez and he scored against Roberto Luongo on a backhand from the slot area for his third goal this season.
     The third period belonged to Los Angeles as they extended their margin to 3-1 at 1:06. Anze Kopitar send a long lead pass ahead to Marion Garorik. He raced through the right circle to the slot and roofed home a shot for his third goal this season.
