Muck Bowl Preview

The Glades Central Raiders will host the Pahokee Blue Devils in the annual Muck Bowl game at Belle Glade on Friday night. The Muck Bowl, considered the most famous high school football game in Palm Beach County, has great anticipation this season because both schools finished as district champions for the first time in many years. The Raiders have won the previous seven confrontations.
Glades Central won their district and have lost two games this season to strong Palm Beach County non-district opponents. They were defeated in two consecutive weeks on the road by the American Heritage Stallions and the Atlantic Eagles in Delray Beach.
The Raiders are dictated by their many weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Running back Ja'kevious Vickers can burst through the line of scrimmage at anytime while quarterback James Blackmon has the height and range to threw the ball to any portion of the field.
Pahokee was moved to Class lA this season and were able to finish in first place. They last made the FHSAA playoffs two years ago when they were a district runner-up as they pulled a miracle comeback in a one-quarter three-way tiebreaker game against American Heritage at Cardinal Newman.
The core of that team at that time were sophomores and freshmen, but now they enter this game as upperclassmen. They will be led by two-way player McArthur Burnett who can play on offense as a running back and defense as a defensive back.
