It took until the final day of the regular season for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers to qualify for the NASL postseason as they defeated the Jacksonville Armada FC l-O on Sunday at Community First Park. Martin Freitas scored the winning goal with three minutes left in the second half.
Fort Lauderdale clinched their fourth postseason berth since the NASL was reformed. Minnesota United FC is the only club to make the same amount of playoff appearances in league history.
The Strikers will play a one-game playoff game which is a league semifinal on Coney Island against the New York Cosmos at MCU Field in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday. The winner of that game will compete in the Soccer Bowl for the NASL championship the following weekend.
