The Florida Panthers began a three-game road swing with a 2-1 defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Thursday night. The Panthers have one victory in the last seven games and dropped nine of their last 11 games.
Florida(30-28-11) broke the scoreless tie at 18:15 of the first period. Jonathan Marchessault connected with his 23rd goal of the season past Sergei Bobrovsky with assists from Thomas Vanek and Alex Petrovic.
The second period belonged to Columbus(45-18-6) they scored two goals late in the frame. Zach Werenski released a high wrist shot from the left wing which went by James Reimer at 15:51.
The Blue Jackets took their first lead of the contest with 39 seconds left in the period. Jack Johnson fired a slap shot from the top of the zone and it was redirected in the low slot by Josh Anderson.
