The Miami Heat were defeated by the Portland Trail Blazers 115-104 at American Airlines Arena on Sunday night. The Heat, who entered the contest in a playoff spot, have lost two of their last four games. They still have won six of their last eight games and 23 of their last 29 games.
Both clubs played a close game throughout the contest. Miami(34-36) had a 29-28 edge after one quarter and were barely behind 52-51 at halftime. Portland(32-37) moved out to a 85-79 lead after three quarters and outscored the Heat by five points during the fourth quarter.
Damian Lillard had a game-high 49 points for the Trail Blazers. James Johnson compiled a team-high 24 points for Miami while Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside contributed 17.
