The Miami Heat topped the Phoenix Suns 112-97 at American Airlines Arena on Tuesday night. The Heat have won seven of the last nine games and have been victorious in 24 of their last 30 games.
Phoenix(22-49), who entered the contest with the third worst record in the NBA, had the edge 26-23 after one quarter. Miami(35-36) responded as they outscored the Suns by 16 points in the second quarter and led 59-46 at halftime. The Heat expanded their margin to 84-63 after three quarters and had no problems in the final quarter.
Hassan Whiteside compiled a double-double for Miami with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Tyler Johnson added 17 points and Goran Dragic contributed 16 points in the victory.
