Major League Baseball Lockout

The Major League Baseball owners placed a lockout on the Major League Baseball Players Association at 12:01 AM on Thursday. The college bargaining agreement between Major League Baseball and the MLBPA expired at midnight.
It is the first work stoppage in the majors since the 1994-1995 strike. The World Series was not played in 1994 for the first time since 1904.
The lockout means that all transactions such as free agent signings and player trades involving union members have stopped. There will be no contact of any kind between Major League Baseball teams and the baseball players. The MLB portion of the Winter Meetings in Orlando is cancelled and the Rule 5 Draft is postponed.
The Miami Marlins are one of the 30 clubs in Major League Baseball. Time will tell if there will be spring training and a regular season in 2022.
