Jonathan Villar Signs With Angels

Former Miami Marlins second baseman Jonathan Villar has signed a contract with the Los Angeles Angels. It is a one-year deal through the rest of the 2022 season. He played 46 contests for the Chicago Cubs earlier this year and was released by them on June 28.
Villar played 30 games with the Marlins in 2020 and had a .259 batting average with two home runs and nine runs batted in. He was traded by the Fish to the Toronto Blue Jays before the end of the regular season. The Marlins reached the postseason later that year for the first time since 2003.
