Marlins Lay Down Angels

The Miami Marlins edged the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 at loanDepot park on Tuesday night. It was the first of a two-game set between both teams. Miami starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara pitched eight innings against Los Angeles(37-45) and allowed no runs on two hits.
Marlins team nemesis Noah Syndergaard was the Angels starting pitcher. He had a 7-1 record and a 1.68 earned run average in 12 career starts against Miami heading into this contest.
Miami(39-40) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Garrett Cooper lifted a solo home run barely over the center-field fence on a 3-2 pitch for his sixth homer this year.
It became 2-0 for the Fish in the fifth inning. Bryan De La Cruz smacked a solo homer to left field on a 0-1 count for his sixth home run of the season.
The Angels loaded the bases in the top of the ninth. Taylor Ward knocked in Michael Stefanic on a sacrifice fly to center field and cut it to 2-1.
