Jack McKeon Retires
Florida Marlins interim manager Jack McKeon announced his retirement prior to the beginning of the three-game home series against the Washington Nationals on Monday. He rejoined the Marlins for a second stint as the club's manager back in mid-June when the team was going throught a bad skid and Edwin Rodriguez resigned. McKeon replaced Jeff Torborg as manager during the 2003 season and lead Florida to their second World Series title. He stayed with the team until the end of the 2005 season. McKeon had previous managerial stops with the Kansas City Royals, Oakland A's, San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds. Otherwise known as Trader Jack, McKeon has won a Marlins franchise-record 280 wins and currently has an all-time record as a major league manager of 1,050-988 as of Sunday.
