Panthers Fall To Stars
The Florida Panthers played their final home preseason game at the Bank Atlantc Center in Sunrise and lost to the Dallas Stars 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night. The Panthers scored on their first shot of the game six minutes in as Tomas Fleischmann blasted a left wing shot by the right shoulder of Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen. Florida swtiched goalies as Jacob Markstrom left and Tyler Plante entered at 11:02 of the second period. Dallas tied the tie on their first shot on Plante as Tomas Vincour skated through the crease and went five-hole at 11:16. The Stars took the lead just over one minute later as Loui Eriksson crushed a loose puck in the crease after his initial shot hit Brian Campbell's skate and came back to him. Toby Petersen would increase their lead to 3-1 on a short-handed breakaway goal with 1:31 left in the second period. The Panthers tied on two consecutive power play goals off a double-minor penalty by Mike Ribiero in the third period. Jonathan Huberdeau scored on a five-on-three from close range at 16:08 followed by a slap shot from the top of the slot by Dmitry Kulikov on a five-on-four at 16:43. In overtime, Stars newcomer Michael Ryder got the game-winner at 1:11 on an assist from Ribiero. The Panthers travel to Dallas and take on the Stars Thursday for their final preseason game.
