Glades Day Dominates Coral Springs Christian

Kelvin Taylor, the all-time leading rusher in Florida high school history, made his only Broward County appearance on Friday night as his Glades Day Gators pounded the Coral Springs Christian Crusaders 69-0 in a District 7-2A game at Mullins Park. Glades Day had a 55-0 halftime lead which led to a running clock with two eight-minute quarters in the second half. Taylor, who has committed to the University of Florida, had over 200 yards rushing and five touchdowns in the game.
Glades Day(3-0, 5-1) jumped on their opponent during their first drive. Taylor scored just 49 seconds into the contest on a 52-yard touchdown run. After recovering a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, Taylor added to the lead with a 35-yard run up the middle untouched thirty seconds later. On the first play of the Crusaders next possession, Calvin Darville intercepted a pass and returned it ten yards for a score. Glades Day had a 20-0 lead with 10:28 left in the first quarter.
At the 6:55 mark of the first quarter, Taylor capped a three-play, 39-yard scoring drive with a touchdown run from ten yards out. Coral Springs Christian(0-2, 2-3) would again turn the ball over on another kickoff as the Gators recovered at the Crusaders 25-yard line. Four plays later, Colton McKillican bounced in from three yards away to increase the Gators lead to 34-0 at 4:59. The Gators began their next drive from their own 21. Taylor rushed down the sideline 66 yards on the second play for his longest gain from scrimmage in the game. On the next play, Taylor went around the left end for 15 yards and his fourth touchdown of the first quarter for a Gators 41-0 lead at 2:13.

After the Crusaders punted again, Taylor scored on the first play of the drive from 36 yards out for his fifth touchdown of the game at 6:38. The Gators had a commanding 55-0 lead at halftime.
Glades Day rested Taylor and most of their starting lineup with a running clock for the second half. The Gators recovered a fumble at the Crusaders eight-yard line midway through the third quarter. Rogelio Gomez squeezed through one play later on a run for a score at 3:23 of the third. Jaime Rodriguez capped the 69-0 victory as he finished a three-play, 20-yard drive on a two-yard run with 3:47 left in the fourth quarter.
