The Miami Heat played their first game ever in China as they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 94-80 on Thursday in Beijing. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James returned to the city where they won the gold medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Both teams will meet again on Sunday for a second game in China to be held in Shanghai.
Wade made his preseason debut after coming off knee surgery during the summer in which his missed the Olympics. He had five points, four assists and four rebounds in 23 minutes. James led the Heat with 20 points, five assists and five rebounds in 26 minutes.
Ray Allen played in his second preseason game the Heat and had 15 points. Norris Cole put in 11 points and Chris Bosh contributed ten points and four rebounds for Miami. The Heat led 29-18 after one quarter and held an 18-point lead 53-35 at halftime. Los Angeles outscored Miami 45-41 in the second half.
Blake Griffin, who also missed the Olympics due to knee surgery, paced the Clippers with 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes. Former Heat player Caron Butler poured in 13 points while Jamal Crawford had 16 points. Lamar Odom, another former Heat member, was scoreless with eight rebounds in 16 minutes. Chris Paul did not play in the game.
