Marlins Leap Giants

The Miami Marlins continued their west coast road trip as they overcame the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Thursday night at AT&T Park. It was the first game of a four-game series against the defending world champions. The Fish are now 10-26 on the road.
Marlins starting pitcher Tom Koehler picked up his first major league win as he went seven innings and gave up one run on three hits. Giants starter Chad Gaudin left during the fifth inning due to a right elbow injury. He surrendered no runs on two hits in 4 1/3 innings. Steve Cishek came in the ninth inning to get his 11th save this season.
San Francisco(37-35) broke the tie during the bottom of the seventh with a two-out rally against Koehler. Brandon Belt doubled into right-center field and then he scored on a Joaquin Arias triple to deep right field.
Miami (23-49) rebounded in the eighth inning with two runs off Sandy Rosario. Justin Ruggiano led off with a walk and Derek Dietrich was hit by a pitch. Both advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Adeiny Hechavarria. After pinch-hitter Jeff Mathis struck out, Marcell Ozuna stroked a base hit into right field to score Ruggiano and Dietrich.
