Stanton's 2 Homers Lift Fish

    Giancarlo Stanton smacked two home runs, which included his 100th career homer in the ninth inning, as the Miami Marlins slipped by the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 on Monday night at Chase Field. The Fish only had three hits in the game and they made each one of them count.
    Arizona(37-33) took the initial lead in the third inning as Paul Goldschmidt crushed a one-out solo home run to right field off Jacob Turner on a 1-0 pitch for his 16th homer in 2013.
    The D-Backs added another run in the bottom of the fifth. Gerardo Parra led off with a single to left field then Willie Bloomquist flew out to right. Parra eventually stole second and scored on a base hit by Goldschmidt to center field.
    After having no hits in the first five innings against Patrick Corbin, Miami(22-47) finally broke through during the sixth inning. Juan Pierre ended the no-hitter with a one-out single into left field. Two batters later, Stanton blasted a two-run homer to left field on a 2-2 pitch for his sixth home run of the season.
    Former Marlins pitcher Heath Bell came in to relieve for Corbin in the ninth inning. Ed Lucas struck out swinging and Stanton followed with his second home run of the game on a 1-2 count to right field. It was his seventh round-tripper this year and 100th homer in his major league career.
    Steve Cishek came in during the ninth inning for Miami, retired three straight batters and picked up his tenth save. Turner went five innings and allowed two runs on six hits. Corbin did not record a decision as he gave up two runs on two hits and struck out seven in eight innings pitched.
