The Miami Heat will not appear in the 2014-15 NBA Playoffs and their reign as the four-time Eastern Conference champions has ended. The Indiana Pacers defeated the Washington Wizards in double overtime 99-95 on Tuesday night and at the same time eliminated the Heat from playoff contention. Miami will play their final game of the regular season against the 76ers in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.
It will be the first time that the club will not participate in the NBA postseason since 2008. The only other occasions that the Heat failed to make the playoffs in the last twenty seasons was in 2002 and 2003. It is the first time that all four South Florida professional teams consisting of the Heat, Dolphins, Marlins and Panthers have not played a playoff game in a calendar year since 2002.
