Giancarlo Stanton hit his Miami Marlins franchise record 155th career home run as they fell to the New York Mets 7-5 at Citi Field on Thursday night. He passed former Marlin second baseman Dan Uggla for that record. The Mets, who extended their winning streak to five games, last time accomplished that was back in May 2013.
Stanton, the defending National League home run champion, smashed his first homer of the season during the first inning toward right-center field and gave Miami(3-7) a 2-0 lead. New York(7-3) now has the best record in the National League East after they finished with a losing record in their previous six seasons.
