ESPN Radio will unite longtime South Florida sports media members Jorge Sedano and Israel Gutierrez for a late evening weekday program beginning February 8. Both have recently combined to co-host the NBA Lockdown podcast at ESPN Audio. They had previously worked together when Sedano hosted a show at 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM from 2007 until 2012 and Gutierrez appeared as a guest to talk about the Miami Heat and the NBA.
Sedano, a Florida International University grad, has hosted a talk show on ESPN Radio since late September 2013 and has also been on ESPN television hosting studio shows. He did host sports shows in Miami at 1700 The Fan WAFN-AM, Fox Sports Radio 940 WRFX-AM, Fox Sports Radio Network, 790 The Ticket and Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM during a time span from 2000 to 2012.
He had prior television work as a sports anchor at WFOR-TV Channel 4 in the early 2010s and was a studio host for Miami Heat games televised on Sun Sports during their 2012-13 NBA championship season.
Gutierrez, a University of Florida grad, was the Miami Heat beat reporter for the Miami Herald during the 2000s. It led him to several opportunities at ESPN where he served as a panelist on The Sports Reporters and Around The Horn. He then became an NBA columnist for ESPN.com and later added duties as a sideline reporter for NBA games on the television network.
He began to co-host an NBA show on Sunday mornings at ESPN Radio in January 2015. Gutierrez joined 790 The Ticket in early 2015 as a guest co-host on the morning show with Jonathan Zaslow and Joy Taylor. He was promoted to the afternoon program alongside Ethan J. Skolnick in September and Gutierrez left the station in late November.
