Cardinal Newman Dominates The King's Academy

The Cardinal Newman Crusaders blew out The King's Academy Lions 55-0 at Sam Budnyk Field in West Palm Beach on Friday night. Cardinal Newman head coach Jack Daniels was at the helm for his first game with his new school. He was the head coach of the Dwyer Panthers for over 20 years and led them to two FHSAA state titles in 2009 and 2013.
Cardinal Newman(1-0) came out strong with 28 points in the first quarter. Quarterback Davi Belfort threw a swing pass to the left side and wide receiver Chris Presto sprinted 66 yards down the left sideline for the score.
It became 14-0 for the Crusaders when wide receiver Ja'kavian Williams got a shovel pass from running back Tovani Mizell and rushed in from six yards away. Cardinal Newman made it 21-0 as Mizell received a screen pass on the left side from Belfort and scored from 37 yards out.
The King's Academy(0-1) surrendered one more touchdown in the opening frame and trailed by 28 points. Belfort carried the ball up the middle from one yard away.
