The Miami Marlins edged the Chicago Cubs 5-4 on Saturday night at loanDepot park. The Marlins have won three straight games while the Cubs have lost ten consecutive games.
Chicago(52-67) moved ahead 1-0 in the top of the fourth. Patrick Wisdom knocked in Rafael Ortega with a single into right field.
Miami(50-67) got a two-out rally and took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning. Brian Anderson lifted a three-run homer to left field on a 3-1 pitch with Jesus Aguilar and Lewis Brinson aboard.
The Cubs loaded the bases during the top of the eighth and eventually pulled ahead 4-3. Frank Schwindel doubled down the left-field line for Johneshwy Fargas, Matt Duffy and Ortega to cross the plate.
The Marlins reclaimed the lead 5-4 in the bottom of the frame with a pair of runs. Anderson grounded to short and Sergio Alcantara made a fielding error for Jazz Chisholm Jr. to score. Magneuris Sierra then singled through the right side and Lewis Brinson reached home.
