Marlins Finish Padres And Road Trip

The Miami Marlins took down the San Diego Padres 7-0 at Petco Park on Wednesday. The Marlins began their recent six-game road swing with five consecutive losses.
Miami(48-67) blitzed with three runs in the top of the first. Isan Diaz drove in Miguel Rojas on a double to right field. Two batters later, Lewis Brinson belted a two-run homer on a 0-1 count to left field that bounced off the top edge of the wall and over the fence.
The Marlins expanded their lead to 4-0 in the second inning. Bryan De La Cruz cracked his first home run in the majors on a 2-0 pitch to left field.
It became a five-run gap for the Fish in the top of the third. Brinson smashed his second home run of the contest and seventh of the year on a 1-0 count to center field. It was the third multi-homer game for Brinson in his MLB career.
In the fifth inning, San Diego(66-50) trailed 6-0. Brian Anderson singled up the middle for Jorge Alfaro to score.
Miami made it a seven-run cushion in the top of the eighth. Rojas walked with the bases loaded and Joe Panik scored.
