St. John Bosco Tops Miami Central

The St. John Bosco Braves handled the two-time defending FHSAA Class 6A state champion Miami Central Rockets 35-12 on Friday night at Panish Family Stadium in Bellflower, California. It was the opening game for both schools and televised nationally.
St. John Bosco scored offensively on their first three possessions of the contest for a 21-0 lead. Running back Jabari Bates made a touchdown reception on the third play of the game. Bates would later add a running touchdown during the first half. Miami Central eventually got two field goals and closed it to 21-6.
Bates would give the Braves a 22-point cushion at 28-6 with 11:07 remaining in the fourth quarter. He raced up the middle from 30 yards out for his third touchdown of the game.
The Rockets found the end zone with 5:33 left when backup quarterback Dylan Tulloch threw an 11-yard swing pass off to the left for running back Ean Pope. They missed the two-point conversion and trailed 28-12.
The Braves increased it to 35-12 with 4:16 to go. Quarterback Pierce Clarkson connected a 55-yard pass to wide receiver Chedon James beyond the secondary for the score.
