Padres Step By Marlins

The San Diego Padres sailed by the Miami Marlins 8-3 at Petco Park on Monday night. The Marlins have lost four straight games and five of their last six.
Miami(47-66) scored first during the top of the second. Magneuris Sierra knocked in Lewis Brinson on a base hit to left field.
San Diego(65-49) answered back in the bottom of the frame. Eric Hosmer bashed a solo home run to right-center field on a 1-2 pitch for his 10th homer of the year.
The Padres made it 2-1 in the third inning. Manny Machado got with a single into right field and Tommy Pham scored.
In the fourth inning, it became 4-1 for the Friars. Victor Caratini drove in Hosmer with a single through the right side. Joe Musgrove followed with a sacrifice fly to deep right and Trent Grisham crossed the plate.
The Marlins closed the gap to 4-3 in the top of the eighth. Brinson smacked a two-run homer down the left-field line off the foul pole with Isan Diaz aboard on a 1-0 count.
San Diego extended it to 8-3 with four runs in the bottom of the eighth. Hosmer connected a single into left-center field and Machado reached home. After an infield hit by Wil Myers to third, Grisham lined a triple into the left-field corner for Hosmer and Myers to score. Grisham would later score on a sacrifice fly by Caratini to right.
