Marlins Evade Pirates

The Miami Marlins picked up a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on Friday night. The Marlins can make the postseason for the first time since the shortened 2020 season with one more win. The last time the Fish reached the National League Playoffs in a 162-game season was in 2003.
Pittsburgh(75-85) had a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Ke'Bryan Hayes grounded out to third with the bases loaded and Endy Rodriguez crossed the plate.
The Bucs made it 3-0 during the fourth inning. Rodriguez singled into center field for Jared Triolo to score. Bryan Reynolds later reached base on a throwing error and Rodriguez scored.
Miami(83-76) compiled four runs in the top of the eighth and took a 4-3 lead. Josh Bell doubled off the right-field wall for Garrett Hampson and Nick Fortes to score. Jake Burger than drove in Jorge Soler with a base hit through the left side. Jazz Chisholm Jr. capped the frame as he hit a sacrifice fly to center field and Yuli Gurriel scored.
