Mets Mash Marlins

     The New York Mets moved by the Miami Marlins 8-3 on Wednesday night at loanDepot park. The Marlins have won three of their last five games and remain outside for a National League playoff spot. 
     New York(71-81) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. American Heritage grad Mark Vientos connected with a solo home run to left field on a 0-2 pitch.  
     In the third inning, the Mets added two more runs to go up 3-0. Ronny Mauricio singled into right field and Brandon Nimmo crossed the plate. Pete Alonso followed with a sacrifice fly to left field which scored Mauricio. 
     Miami(79-74) cut it to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Garrett Hampson drove in Bryan De La Cruz on a sacrifice fly to center. 
     It became 4-1 for New York in the top of the sixth. Vientos blasted his second home run of the contest on a 0-2 count to left field for his seventh homer of the season. 
     The Fish closed it to 4-2 during the bottom of the sixth. Josh Bell hammered a solo home run to left-center field on a 3-1 pitch for his 21st homer of the year. 
    The Mets answered back quickly in the seventh inning with two runs for a 6-2 advantage. Alonso knocked in Nimmo with a base hit into center field. Francisco Lindor grounded out to short and Mauricio reached home. Brett Baty lifted a solo home run to right field in the top of the eighth for his eighth homer of the 2023 campaign and gave them a 7-2 lead.
