It became 2-0 for the Panthers as they scored with the man advantage again at 6:59. New Florida player Oliver Eckman-Larsson made an angle pass from the right wing and Eetu Luostarinen snapped a shot from the top of the crease.
In the second period, Panthers goalie Spencer Knight was removed from goal for Ludovic Waeber after compiling a shutout in 29 minutes of play. Florida waited until 48.7 seconds left in the frame to score on a 5-on-3 power play. Ekman-Larsson passed from the top of the zone ahead. Aleksander Barkov took a shot from the top right circle which was saved by Troy Grosenick. Luostarinen placed in a a wrist shot from the inner right circle for his second goal of the game,
Florida made it a four-goal margin at 2:53 of the third period. Ekman-Larsson connected a cross-ice pass from the right point. Gustav Forsling snapped a shot from the left point and it was redirected into the cage by Samoskevich from the slot area.
The Cats added another power-play tally with 2:52 remaining in the third for a 5-0 lead. Lockwood passed from the top right circle and Samoskevich scored on a snap shot from the low left circle for his second goal of the contest. Forsling picked up the secondary assist on the play.
