Marlins Slip By Mets

The Miami Marlins got a 4-2 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday night. It was the second contest of a doubleheader.
The Marlins will finish the 2023 regular season with a winning record for the first time since 2009. The Fish are now tied with the Chicago Cubs for the final National League wild-card spot.
Miami(82-76) scored first in the opening frame. New York(72-86) evened it up 1-1 in the bottom of the second. Both teams put up one run in the fourth inning for a 2-2 tie.
The Marlins moved ahead 4-2 in the top of the ninth. Yuli Gurriel grounded into a fielder's choice and Xavier Edwards reached home. Bryan De La Cruz then singled to left field and Jon Berti crossed the plate.
