The Miami Marlins bounced by the New York Mets 4-3 on Tuesday night at loanDepot park. The Marlins, who are now 31-13 in one-run games this season, have won four of their last five contests. The Mets will not have a winning record in 2023.
New York(70-81) made it 1-0 in the top of the third. Francisco Lindor got an infield hit to the pitcher. Pete Alonso scored on the throwing error by Marlins starting pitcher Braxton Garrett.
Miami(79-73) answered back to tie it 1-1 in the bottom of the third. Josh Bell doubled down the right-field line to score Jorge Soler.
The Marlins expanded it to 2-1 in the fifth inning. Jon Berti was able to cross the plate when Xavier Edwards got an infield single.
In the sixth inning, the Fish picked up a two-run lead. Garrett Hampson knocked in Jake Burger on a single into center field.
The Mets tied it up 3-3 with two out in the top of the ninth. Brandon Nimmo doubled into the right-center field gap for Jeff McNeil and D.J. Stewart to reach home.
Miami clinched the contest in the bottom of the ninth. Burger got a walk-off single to center field and Joey Wendle scored.
