The Miami Marlins shut out the New York Mets 4-0 in a seven-inning contest for the first game of a doubleheader. New York(12-15) have not played since August 19 in Miami due to two people in their organization that tested positive for coronavirus.
Miami(13-11) scored three runs in the second inning. Lewis Brinson got a base hit to left field and Brian Anderson scored. Miguel Rojas followed with a two-run single to right field which brought in Jorge Alfaro and Brinson.
The Marlins extended their lead to 4-0 in the top of the second. Lewin Diaz picked up his first career RBI on a shot through the right side of the infield and Anderson crossed the plate.
