The Miami Marlins returned to the road and slipped by the Washington Nationals X-X on Friday night at Nationals Park. The Marlins won their 2,000th franchise victory and were able to stop a five-game losing streak. The Marlins home game on Thursday night against the Mets was postponed because members of the Mets organization tested positive for the coronavirus.
Miami(10-9) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second. Miguel Rojas hammered a three-run homer to left field on a 2-0 pitch. Jorge Alfaro and Lewis Brinson both scored in front of him on the play.
The Nationals got one run back in the bottom of the second. Yan Gomes belted a solo home run to center field on a 2-2 count.
In the third inning, Washington(9-13) made it 3-2. Former Park Vista High School grad Trea Turner sliced a solo homer on a 2-1 pitch to right-center field.
