The Atlanta Braves survived the Miami Marlins 5-3 at Truist Park on Friday night. The Marlins continued their four-game series with the Braves.
Miami(40-70) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Jonah Bride lifted a two-run homer to left-center field on a 3-1 pitch for his second home run of the campaign. Xavier Edwards was able to score in front of him.
The Marlins extended their lead to 3-0 in the third inning. Jake Burger powered a solo home run on a 0-1 count to left field for his 16th homer of the year.
Atlanta(60-49) begins their comeback from the three-run deficit in the bottom of the fifth. Orlando Arcia cracked a solo home run to right-center field on a 0-1 pitch for his 11th homer of the season.
It became 3-2 in the sixth inning. Whit Merrifield crossed the plate when Austin Riley grounded out to second.
Two former Marlins sparked the Braves rally to overtake the Fish in the bottom of the eighth for a 5-3 advantage. Jorge Soler knocked in Jarred Kelenic with a base hit through the right side. Two batters later, Marcell Ozuna hit a sacrifice fly to left field which scored Ramon Laureano. Arcia later drove in Riley with a single to center field.
