Rockies Roll By Marlins

The Colorado Rockies got by the Miami Marlins 3-2 at Coors Field on Monday. Griffin Conine, son of Mr. Marlin Jeff Conine, made his Major League Baseball in the ninth inning as a pinch-hitter and struck out. They became the second father-son combination besides David Weathers and Ryan Weathers in Marlins franchise history.
The Marlins began a four-game set in Denver along with an overall seven-game road trip. Both clubs entered the game with the two worst records in the National League.
Miami(47-84) struck with two runs in the top of the fifth for a 2-0 advantage. Jesus Sanchez knocked in Nick Fortes and Connor Norby with a base hit into left field.
Colorado(49-83) answered back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie it up 2-2. Aaron Schunk grounded out to second which scored Sam Hilliard. Jake Cave then singled into center field and Jordan Beck scored.
In the sixth inning, the Rockies took a 3-2 lead with one run. Ryan McMahon smacked a solo home run to center field on a 3-2 pitch for his 17th homer of the season.
