Padres Dissolve Marlins

The San Diego Padres visited the Miami Marlins on Friday night at loanDepot park and won 6-2 in 10 innings. The Padres have won six consecutive games and nine of their last 11 contests. The Marlins have lost four of five contests during their seven-game homestand.
Miami(43-74) made it 2-0 with two runs during the bottom of the fourth with back-to-back home runs. Jake Burger blasted a solo homer to left field on a 1-1 pitch for his 20th home run of the season. Jonah Bride followed with his fourth home run of the campaign on the first pitch.
San Diego(65-52) cut it down to 2-1 in the top of the eighth. Manny Machado doubled to the center-field warning track and Jurickson Profar crossed the plate.
The Padres evened it up 2-2 in the ninth inning. Jackson Merrill homered to right-center field on a 0-0 count for his 16th career home run.
In the top of the 10th, San Diego pulled away from the Marlins with four runs. Tyler Wade scored when Jake Cronenworth reached base on a fielder's choice. Machado came up next and knocked in former Marlin Luis Arraez and Cronenworth on a double into right-center field. Two batters later, Merrill drove in Machado with a base hit into left field.
