Milton Drops American Heritage

     The American Heritage Patriots fell to the Milton Eagles 37-28 at Simmons Family Field in Fort Lauderdale on Friday night. It was a nationally televised contest on ESPN. 
     American Heritage(0-1) broke out to a 3-0 lead on their first possession. Gavin Harvey booted a 34-yard field goal with 6:02 to go in the first quarter. 
     Milton(1-0) leaped over for a 7-3 lead with 2:21 left in the first. Running back T.J. Lester rushed around the right end from two yard away. 
     The Patriots made it 7-6 at the 10:32 mark of the second quarter. Harvey was able to make a 36-yard field goal. On their next possession, Harvey added a 24-yard field to give the Pats a 9-7 lead with 8:38 to go in the second. 
     The Eagles retook the lead 13-7 with 4:28 remaining in the second. Quarterback Luke Nickel connected a 15-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tristen Payne on the right side of the end zone. 
     American Heritage moved in front 16-13 with 1:20 left in the first half. Wide receiver Malachi Toney caught a 21-yard touchdown pass on the right sideline from quarterback Dia Bell. 
     Milton struck again with 29 seconds to go in the second quarter to make it 20-16. Lester raced around the left end and scored from seven yards out for his second touchdown of the game. 
     In the second half, the Braves scored on their first drive and extended their lead to 27-16 at the 9:09 mark of the third quarter. Wide receiver Ethan Barbour ran out of a wildcat formation two yards through the right side of the line for the score. 
     The Pats bounced back quickly and cut the deficit to 27-22 with 8:29 remaining in the third. Running back Byron Louis sprinted up the middle of the field on a 69-yard touchdown run.  
     It became 30-22 for Milton with 44 seconds left in the third quarter. Alex Nover was able to kick a 23-yard field. 
     In the fourth quarter, American Heritage made it 30-28 with 3:24 to go. Bell fired a seven-yard pass to Toney in the back right corner of the end zone. They failed on the two-point conversion run to tie the game. 
     The Braves expanded their lead to 37-28 with 2:56 remaining. Nickel tossed a swing pass to the right side and Barbour raced in from 72 yards away.
