Chaminade-Madonna Blanks Archbishop Carroll

The Chaminade-Madonna Lions shut out the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs 56-0 at Vince Zappone Field in kickoff classic on Friday night. The Lions are the defending FHSAA Class 1M state championships and have captured six state titles in the past seven years.
Both schools met each other in 2023. Chaminade-Madonna defeated Archbishop Carroll in the Class 1M state semifinals 47-7 at the same venue.
The Lions will start their 2024 regular season at home against the St. John Bosco Braves next Saturday night. The Bulldogs will visit the Florida Chrisitan Patriots on Friday.
Chaminade-Madonna had an impressive offense with quarterback Zachary Katz throwing two touchdown passes to wide receiver Koby Howard in the first half and one touchdown pass to wide receiver Kyle Washington. Running back Derek Cooper did have a 28-yard touchdown run while Angelo Smith returned a fumble for a score.
