Boca Raton native Dario Melendez will join ESPN as a sports anchor beginning February 25. Melendez, a 2004 Spanish River High School grad, was a soccer all-star and played wide receiver in football. He attended Sacred Heart University and was a wide receiver for their football team. He worked as a sports intern at WPLG-TV Channel 10 in Miami and NBC Sports in New York City while in college.
Melendez began his broadcasting career in October 2008 with WINK-TV in Fort Myers as a weekend sports anchor. He also was an afternoon co-host and a Saturday late morning co-host on Fox Sports Radio 1200 WPTK-AM and Fox Sports Radio 1460 WNPL-AM from March 2009 until October 2010. He moved to Milwaukee and joined WISN-TV in November 2010 as a sports reporter and weekend sports anchor. His last appearance there will be on February 17.
