The Pro Football Hall of Fame has elected seven people as the class of 2013. Three of them have a South Florida connection. They will be inducted in Canton, Ohio on August 3.
Bill Parcells worked for the Miami Dolphins as the Vice President of Football Operations from September 2007 until September 2010. He was best known as the head coach of the New York Giants and led them to two Super Bowl titles. They won Super Bowl 21 over the Denver Broncos in Pasadena, California and Super Bowl 25 against the Buffalo Bills in Tampa. Parcells also coached the New England Patriots, New York Jets and the Dallas Cowboys.
Cris Carter played his final season in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins. He began with the Philadelphia Eagles when he entered the league in 1987 and stayed there for three seasons. He joined the Minnesota Vikings and played 12 seasons with them. Carter, a Boca Raton resident, has been an assistant coach with St. Thomas Aquinas High School since the mid-2000's. The school has won four state titles since he has been there which includes 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012.
Warren Sapp played college football at the University of Miami. He played his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders. Sapp, who is an Apopka High School grad, was part of the Super Bowl 37 champions with Tampa Bay.
Other to be inducted will include Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden, Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Larry Allen, Kansas City Chiefs/Houston Oilers defensive tackle Curly Culp and Green Bay Packers linebacker Dave Robinson.
