Andy Slater Leaves WMEN For WINZ

Andy Slater has announced that he is leaving 640 Sports WMEN-AM after over five years of service. His final midday show at that station will be on Thursday. He will join 940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM on January 6 and replaces Phil Domanic and Troy Stradford as the mid-afternoon host.
Slater, a Franklin Pierce College grad, was once a Florida Marlins visiting clubhouse attendant and worked with the Oakland Raiders organization prior to his professional broadcasting career. He began at 640 Sports as a weekend co-host when the station flipped to a sports format in April 2008. He was elevated to the afternoon co-host position in late 2009 and worked with Larry Milian. Slater was moved to the evening shift in January 2010 when the station hired Ed Kaplan.
He was promoted to the midday shift in April 2011 when the New York Yankees Radio Network took over the evening slot. Slater also co-hosted a Saturday midday show with longtime Miami sports host Hank Goldberg during the football season from 2011 until 2013.
Slater was demoted to two hours during 2013 and moved to the early afternoon shift in early August when Dan Sileo took over the midday shift. He regained his midday shift and an extra hour of work three months later in early November when Sileo was fired.
