The Miami Marlins have signed first baseman Garrett Jones to a two-year contract worth $7.5 million. Jones had played the last five seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He helped the Bucs earn a winning record during the regular season and playoff appearance in 2013 for the first time since 1992. Last year he had 15 home runs, 51 RBI and a .233 batting average with Pittsburgh.
He made his major league debut with the Minnesota Twins in 2007 and was involved in 31 games. Jones returned to the majors in 2009 when he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and played outfield along with first base. He has 102 home runs, 330 RBI and a .254 batting average in six major league seasons.
